I am hiking the Appalachian Trail in the US now, don't have Chinese software now,I have already hiked for about 500 kms so far. I am at the small town of Erwin, Tennessee This area is heavily forested, . At night time, there are so many Katydids singing, their sound is almost deafening.I haven't had any luck catch one, since they are always out of reach on top of the trees.I hope I can upload some pictures soon.

会来 New England 吗?

Just Google "Appalachian Trail",The Appalachian Trail runs from Georgia to Maine through some of the highest peaks of the Appalachian mountains. My original plan was to go all the way to Maine, but with some serious foot problems, I am way behind plan, maybe can only go as far as New York state.
This kind of katydid seems to mature first at the areas with lower elevations. I heard it first around July 1stat the Hot Springs campground at North Carolina(elevation 1400 feet). Two nights ago, when I stayed at the shelter just above the town of Erwin(elevation about 3000 feet), Tennessee, I heard a few, Last night, I stayed at the town of Erwin(elevation 1700 feet), there are so many of them.Despite their aboundance, catching one can be a real challenge. I'll test my luck again tonight.

Good luck.

Thank you! It could be a while before I put up any pictures. One guy I am staying with told me there was a katydid on the picnic table 2 nights ago, but they didn't know I was looking for it.I probably need to climb a tree to catch one!
